Down and Out

This evening I crawled into bed with Big Red, as we do nightly and talk about our days. Tonight was different. I've had a hard week and have been feeling particularly down about myself. I proceeded to pour my soul out to him about what I've been feeling and why. He just laid there and listened. No judgement passed, just listened. He made me feel better about our (my) situation. He let me know that nothing is more important to him than my happiness. Then he just held me. All of the sudden, nothing else mattered.

And that... means everything to me.

One week down...

Well I am one week into my exercise program, and only 4 days into the diet program. I am finding the hardest part of the diet program is not eating the same amount of carbs and calories when I am with my hubby. I realize that men need carbs because their bodies are so different than ours, but when he is sitting there with all of his lovely boneless (breaded) chicken wings, his gyro with a pita (vs. mine without a pita), it is hard not to nibble on them. Luckily, he is very supportive and wants me to lose weight just as much as I do (only because he knows how unhappy I am with my current weight, because if it were up to him, I would be my current weight and all would be well).

In one week, I have lost 2 pounds (which I think is primarily water weight, but I will take it any way that I can) with my walking. My goal is to lose 20 by 7/27/07 and eventually lose an additional 30. So 50 lbs to go!

Current weight: 190lbs.
Exercise: 30 min. walking 4 - 5 days a week.
Water: 64+ ounces per day

Welcome

My sister in law and I decided to start this blog. We're both beautiful, intelligent and married to fantastic men, but unhappy with our own outwardly appearances. This is the way that we have decided to share our struggles and triumphs in this journey to self discovery and healthy living with the world.

We know what it takes to lose the weight and get back in shape. We just need motivation for ourselves and each other. We look forward to sharing our stories with you.
